BET AWARDS 2022 was held this year in Los Angeles at the Microsoft Theater and for the second year hosted by Taraji P Henson, celebrates the biggest names in music, entertainment, and culture. Of course, the red carpet was graced with high-end fashion hits and misses. The “Treat Me” singer Chole Bailey looked glamourous in a black one-shoulder sequinned gown by Lebanese designer Nicolas Jebran. Jack Harlow stole the show when he wore an all-black Lil Nax X merch tee with jeans and boots from Givenchy. The Nigerian Afrobeats singer turned heads in his beige suit that revealed he had nothing underneath but silver chains.

Big winners of the night were Megan Thee Stallion, Jazmine Sullivan, Silk Sonic, and The Weeknd; with Diddy being the honoree of the night. BET’s Lifetime Achievement Award honors those “who have not only significantly shaped culture through their extensive careers, but who have also been transformative leaders that consistently inspire generations by setting a true standard of excellence,” according to a press release.

Megan Thee Stallion is awarded the key to the city of Houston, Texas, on Sunday. May 2nd has also been proclaimed as her holiday in honor of her grandmother and mother’s birthday.

“Megan Thee Stallion has an extraordinary entertainment career, but we wanted to honor her for what she does offstage to lift people’s lives in underserved communities,” Turner said.

“She assisted people after the 2021 winter storm, during the pandemic, and helped those struggling with homelessness. “I look forward to watching her grow as an artist and humanitarian.”

Last year, she launched a non-profit called the Pete and Thomas Foundation in honor of her mother and father. Megan had surprised three beneficiaries with $5,000 each to help go towards their education, housing,

and wellness expenses.

Russia, Live Nation has announced that it will no longer promote concerts or conduct any business in Russia, NPR reports. “Live Nation joins the world in strongly condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine,” reads the company’s statement. “We will not promote shows in Russia, and we will not do business with them. We’re in the process of reviewing our vendors so we can cease work with any and all Russian-based suppliers.”

The news has landed the same day that Spotify announced plans to shutter its Russia office indefinitely. Multiple artists have protested Russia’s invasion of Ukraine by canceling concerts in the country, including Russian rapper Oxxxymiron, who canceled six sold out concerts. Green Day, HEALTH, Nick Cave, and more have followed suit in canceling Russian shows. The Killers and Iggy Pop both pulled out of this summer’s Park Live festival in Moscow.
