DJ Kay Slay, a pioneering hip hop artist who worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, has died of complications from COVID-19. He was 55. Grayson’s death was confirmed by his family in a statement released through New York radio station HOT 97, where he hosted “The Drama Hour” for more than two decades. He was known for his skills on the turntables and his ability to work with top rappers. He was also one of the first DJ’s to release a mixtape, which helped to popularize the format. DJ Kay Slay will be remembered as a pioneer in the hip hop community and a true talent. He will be sorely missed.
